Billie Eilish Breaks Another Oscars Record

Published

on

Billie Eilish has now gained the title of the youngest two-time Oscar winner in history.

Billie Eilish won her first Oscar award in 2022, earning her the position of the first Academy Award winner that was born in the 21st century.

Two years were enough for Billie Eilish to stand on the Oscar stage again to receive the statuette in the ‘Best Original Song category’.

Previously, she won the award for the phenomenal Bond song ‘No Time to Die’. At this year’s award party, she was recognized for her powerful ballad ‘What Was I Made For?’ from Barbie.

Not only was it the only golden knight for the pink production, but the singer gained the title of the youngest two-time Oscar winner in history. The second youngest owner of two prestigious statuettes is her brother, Finneas O’Connell, who co-wrote both songs with her.

Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell have won two Oscar awards together.

Eilish was praised as a true global pop phenomenon. At the age of 17, she launched her first album. The album quickly attracted numerous fans, and the eyes of the whole world focused on the young singer. On this, Vogue wrote: “Everyone is impressed by her unusual universe and personality.”

Her soft voice easily dips into the lower registers. In the texts she writes herself, she evokes classic topics such as love stories and breakups. She also touches on deeper topics, singing about death, depression and anxiety. She also became the creator and performer of the song for the 25th part of the James Bond film, ‘No Time to Die’.

It was for this song that she won her first Oscar when she was only 20 years old. Even then, she could easily be considered the second youngest winner in the Best Original Song category. Only Marketa Irglova was younger when she won in 2008 for ‘Falling Slowly’.

The siblings’ latest win for the emotional ballad from the movie ‘Barbie’, has moved both of them beyond the previous record holder, Luise Rainer, who won best actress in 1937 for ‘The Great Ziegfeld’ and again in 1938 for ‘The Good Earth’, when she was 28 years old. She was the first actress to win in the main category.

Billie Eilish gave a soulful performance of ‘What Was I Made For?’, which was accompanied by her brother, Finneas O’Connell

Eilish and O’Connell’s second Oscar win caps off an excellent season of awards that saw ‘What Was I Made For?’ winning a Grammy as Song of the Year, a Society of Composers and Lyricists Award, a Golden Globe, and several critical accolades.

Who is Billie Eilish?

Billie Eilish was born on December 18, 2001, and has Irish and Scottish roots. Her mother is actress Maggie Baird, and her father is Patrick O’Connell. Though haters have accused that the singer, brought up in a wealthy family, only makes money off teenagers’ problems, and it is difficult to disagree that her attitude of talking about her weaknesses has helped millennials across the globe.

Her career started very quickly. The song ‘Ocean Eyes’, which she wrote together with her brother, became an Internet hit, and a moment later Eilish signed a contract with a major label, although many people did advise her then on what steps she should take in show business, while she hid with her brother in the studio and started working on music.

Without spotlighting in major studio, showing your body, or scandal in the media, Billie has decided to stay true to her beliefs and create originality, with honesty and integrity. The effect of her hard work is a mini-album that has appeared on the ‘Billboard charts’ for more than a hundred weeks.

Nollywood veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor, has disclosed and talked about how people tried to impose titles and name-tags on her at the beginning of her career and how she handled it.

The veteran actress said when she began her acting career, people tried to compare her with legendary actress, Liz Benson, by tagging her as ‘Liz Benson of Enugu’ but she rejected the tag because she believes they are both unique.

She disclosed that she also rejected suggestions to answer her husband’s first name as her surname and instead chose to bear his family name.
She actually disclosed this in an interview session via a media platform.

Her words: “I don’t know how it started, all I know was that when I started my acting career and people started recognizing this woman from Enugu.”

“So, there was a time I came to Lagos for a shoot and people started saying, ‘That’s her, this woman from Enugu.’ They said, “You’re the ‘Liz Benson of Enugu.”

“I said, ‘No, with all due respect, I don’t want to be like Liz Benson, I want to be myself. I am ‘Patience Ozokwor of Enugu’.”

“And some people came and said, ‘You don’t even need to answer Patience Ozokwor again. Answer your husband’s first name Edmund; Patience Edmund.’

“I said, ‘No, because in Igbo land, you’re not just married by one man, you’re married by a family. I don’t know about other tribes.”

“So, my husband’s people, their name is Ozokwor. When you mention Ozokwor in any part of this world, people who know the Ozokwors would say ‘I know where she comes from’,” she concluded.
