Popular Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa, has expressed her thoughts concerning how important being independent is to her as a woman and her choice of subscribing to the concept of singlehood.

Dayo Amusa, who is discreet about her love life and keeping it away from the public, said that she is currently living her life, independently, because she is personally taking responsibility for her life and has refused to blame anyone or accuse people for her failures.

She also stated that she does not incline to the dictate of religion or culture, in shaping her thoughts about how she lives her life.

With reference to her assertion, she stated that being a woman does not deny her of her worth when compared to men – and the color of her skin does not determine the quality of her beauty.

Dayo also disclosed that she has the freewill to carefully determine companionship, beliefs, values, and standards on how she lives her life and what she acknowledges as being right to her.

With a clear stance on accepting the fact that she has the ability to live independently, Dayo stated that it does not mean that she is undermining anyone, considering the fact that human beings are inevitably meant to have different encounters in life.

Also, she made it clear that living an independent life does not mean that she does not need a companionship, partner or love in her life because she desires to be cherished, loved, pampered, and supported by a partner.

In her words: “I am independent because I take responsibility for my life. I refuse to play the blame game on anyone or make other people scapegoats for my failures. I do not allow the culture or religion to define me. Just because I am a woman doesn’t mean I am less than a man. Just because my skin may be darker or lighter than someone else’s doesn’t make me any less beautiful.”

“I am empowered to choose my companions, belief system & standards, based on what I feel is right for me. I can stand on my own if need be, but I do not boast about it or make others feel small just because they can’t. Being independent doesn’t mean I do not need love. It doesn’t mean I like going home alone.”

“It doesn’t mean I hate men or that I won’t submit. It doesn’t mean I will stop being feminine, sexy & ladylike. I still want to be cared for & pampered by my partner. I desire to have doors opened & be treated to dinner. I still want to be protected & covered with assurance that everything is going to be okay. YES, I Love my independence” – she concluded.
