Controversial crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, has lost the ‘best-dressed female’ award, as a result of  its retrieval from him by Eniola Alao, the host of the movie premiere where the award event took place.

The premiere of ‘Ajakaju: Beast of Two Worlds’ actually took place on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos.

During the event, popular movie producer, Femi Adebayo Salami, announced Bobrisky as the winner of the the “Best Dreessed Female’ award and  N1 million prize attached to the award.

Meanwhile, Bobrisky’s victory had sprang up controversies online – as celebrities and fans were questioning the criteria used to determine the winner.

Actress Dayo Amusa and Omotayo Sanusi (Femi Adebayo’s wife) had engaged in a heated exchange of words, while Portable, the controversial singer, referred to Bobrisky as a ‘disgrace to brotherhood’.

Amidst the controversies, the film producer, Eniola Ajao, has taken to her Instagram page to issue an apology to all parties involved in the matter.

The filmmaker demonstrated her ‘deep respect for women’ and vowed to ‘never engage in behaviour that undermines their role in society’.

Ajao also explained that the decision to award Bobrisky the ‘best-dressed female’ prize was a ‘strategy to generate publicity’ for the movie.

To correct the situation, Eniola announced two new winners for the ‘best-dressed female’ category, each receiving N1 million as a ‘gesture of sincere apology’ and ‘appreciation for their elegance and grace’.

Eniola’s statement reads: “I address you all today, taking full responsibility and seeking your pardon with my deepest regrets for the distress and turmoil caused by the events surrounding the selection of ‘Best Dressed Female’ at the premiere of ‘AJAKAJU’.”

“First, I want to extend my sincerest apologies to the Muslim community, especially during this sacred month of Ramadan.”

“To the women in our society, I want to express my profound apologies. As a woman myself, I understand the importance of upholding and honouring our gender with dignity and respect. I want to assure you that I hold the utmost reverence for womanhood, and I would never intentionally engage in any behaviour that diminishes or disparages the role of women in our society.”

“I also extend my heartfelt apologies to My honourable and supportive boss Femi Adebayo @femiadebayosalami and his wife, @iyanaladuke and @dayoamusa, for the undue backlash they faced as a result of the announcement made at our event. I deeply regret the insults and disrespect directed towards them, and I take full responsibility for any harm caused.”

“To Bobrisky @bobrisky222, I offer my sincere apologies for putting you in a difficult position. The decision to award you was never meant to cause harm or controversy but was rather an attempt to generate publicity for our movie. I am truly sorry for any distress this may have caused you.”

“To make amends and correct my mistakes, I have decided to honour two females, Bode Alao and one other beautiful woman, as the best-dressed females at the premiere. Each will receive a sum of N1,000,000.”

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if the award and money handed to Bobrisky would be taken from him.

Nollywood veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor, has disclosed and talked about how people tried to impose titles and name-tags on her at the beginning of her career and how she handled it.

The veteran actress said when she began her acting career, people tried to compare her with legendary actress, Liz Benson, by tagging her as ‘Liz Benson of Enugu’ but she rejected the tag because she believes they are both unique.

She disclosed that she also rejected suggestions to answer her husband’s first name as her surname and instead chose to bear his family name.
She actually disclosed this in an interview session via a media platform.

Her words: “I don’t know how it started, all I know was that when I started my acting career and people started recognizing this woman from Enugu.”

“So, there was a time I came to Lagos for a shoot and people started saying, ‘That’s her, this woman from Enugu.’ They said, “You’re the ‘Liz Benson of Enugu.”

“I said, ‘No, with all due respect, I don’t want to be like Liz Benson, I want to be myself. I am ‘Patience Ozokwor of Enugu’.”

“And some people came and said, ‘You don’t even need to answer Patience Ozokwor again. Answer your husband’s first name Edmund; Patience Edmund.’

“I said, ‘No, because in Igbo land, you’re not just married by one man, you’re married by a family. I don’t know about other tribes.”

“So, my husband’s people, their name is Ozokwor. When you mention Ozokwor in any part of this world, people who know the Ozokwors would say ‘I know where she comes from’,” she concluded.
